When you write daily in your Gratitude Journal a subtle ‘inner shift’ in how you THINK will, in time, occur! Initially, you may or may not notice this ‘shift’ occurring, you must simply TRUST that it will happen! Sometimes in life we must do things based on blind trust/faith that what you are doing is right. Writing daily in a Gratitude Journal is one of those times when trust and faith are required, for this simple action, taken daily, can and will change your life beyond belief. I am able to make such a statement with some authority as I have been doing exactly what I am describing here, EVERY day for the last 7 years ( and still doing it today), and I am never ceased to be amazed at the positive rewards that continuously flow to my ‘inner being’. Spiritual Law 101: the more that you have, and the awareness that you are grateful for having, the more will be given you!

This Spiritual Law truly is very powerful when believed and adopted into one’s life! Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for your tomorrows. The opposite is also true. The more one focuses on ‘lack’ (what they don’t have), the more depressed they become, and the less grateful they become for what they DO have – e.g. life itself! We must, I will repeat that, we must, learn the benefits of ‘letting go of the past’ and putting any thought of ‘lack’ behind us! This mental practice is vital if one desires lasting happiness, inner peace and contentment in their precious life!

Choosing to dwell on past events and/or on future fears, opens the mind to an internal hell. Rather, one needs to choose to live in the present moment, today, for that is all that any of us has – TODAY! This may sound overly simplistic, but many of us, if we are prepared to stop ‘doing’ and spend a little time THINKING on a deep ‘inner level’ about such a proposition, and if we are simultaneously completely open and honest with our Self ( not always easy to do), then we will accept that we may have a tendency to spend too much time thinking about the past ( maybe an hour ago, a week/month ago, etc), or worrying about the future ( tomorrow, next week/month, etc). To show Gratitude one simply needs to focus and become AWARE of and enjoy the many small things that occur in one’s DAILY life – e.g. a sunrise, the sounds of birds singing or waves crashing, words from a good book, a smile or kind word from another, having a healthy body and mind, etc. Put your judgements in the rubbish bin, allow others to be themselves and you to be yourself. Consciously become AWARE, moment by moment of how and what you THINK, and choose to live in the present moment – no fears! Practice the art of being present. Yes, it does require practice, but the rewards are endless! Make it a habit, for it is only when one is present and still, that one becomes AWARE of the presence of God/Spirit/Source/The Divine/A Higher Power/ whatever YOU believe.

Happiness is the quality of our thoughts, our state of mind, it is a living emotion. The seeds of Happiness and Contentment are planted deep ‘within’ each of us. There are no exceptions! Lasting Happiness, Inner peace and Contentment can only manifest in our lives when we commit to making it a personal priority and develop the AWARENESS that it can only come from ‘within’. It is vital that we all become AWARE of how much of our DAILY living many of us simply take for granted e.g. waking each morning and having a Pulse, being able to Move freely, to See, Speak and Hear clearly, etc, etc! These are precious ‘gifts’ given to us daily, and we must become AWARE of this essential requirement – showing gratitude by writing daily in a Gratitude Journal, if we desire lasting happiness, inner peace and contentment in our lives!

The Number1 purpose of any human life is to become AWARE! Awareness is the goal, the plan, the desired outcome, and being still and sitting in silence is the key to learning the ‘how to’ of becoming aware! If one is unable to accept that there is a force far greater than any of us earthlings, and that one’s purpose is to connect with and communicate daily with that universal force, then one will never find the lasting happiness, inner peace and contentment that we all desire! One can put any label they like on this Higher Power e.g. God, Source, Spirit, Divine, Master, Higher Power, etc, etc. I have chosen to refer to this Higher Power as God. And as Dr Wayne Dyer once said: “There is a difference between knowing about God and knowing God”. It is only when the clamour of your outside world is silent will you be able to hear God/Spirit playing your song and sending you messages! Sitting in silence is ‘the key’ to discovering this vital state of awareness!

Finally, remember that just as plants grow daily unnoticed, so do our Souls grow and develop ‘spiritual muscle’ as we daily express gratitude by writing in our very own Gratitude Journal, even though we do not see progress day by day. Just as we nurture our plants, believing, trusting and having faith that they will grow and blossom, so too we must believe, trust and have faith that writing daily in a Gratitude Journal will produce positive results!

When a flower does not bloom, we fix the environment in which the flower grows – not the flower!
